When you go to the Adobe.com website to learn more about ADOBE AIR it’s not very clear and to the point. I guess they are trying to be sly and step around the fact that ADOBE AIR is really just another widget community similar to Yahoo Widgets & Google Gadgets (google is too cool for school so they gave their widgets a different name). Which reminds me, ADOBE’s marketing is getting a bit too agressive for my taste… who else receieves annoying calls and e-mails from ADOBE representatives trying to get you to pay enterprise level pricing in an economy undergoing a recession? HA! Anyway, I guess with all the buzz around the web community about ADOBE AIR I was expecting to be a bit more impressed with what it offers to web professionals. Lets be honest… it’s just another widget we will have to create for our interactive websites. Anybody care to write a convincing blog post as to WHY Adobe AIR is better than Yahoo Widgets or Google Gadgets? We want to believe … we really do…
By the way… we understand we gave a couple jabs to Adobe and Google… perhaps the two biggest Internet conglomerates out there… please don’t firebomb us.

I just downloaded and installed the BBC’s iPlayer application and it is based on Adobe Air. It took a full two minutes of install bars until it was finally finished.
I can’t help thinking that it would be a lot more efficient to use a natively coded desktop client.
